Our core promise
Your contacts stay on your phone.
Most caller-ID apps grow by uploading everyone's address book. We don't. SafeCaller matches your contacts locally and looks up only the unknown number — through a protected, tokenized lookup.

What happens during a lookup
- 1Your phone normalises the number to international format (+91…).
- 2Emergency numbers and your own contacts are handled on the phone — no lookup.
- 3For unknown numbers, the app sends the number over an encrypted TLS connection.
- 4Our server immediately converts it into a keyed token (HMAC) and uses only that token to find reputation data.
- 5The raw number is not written to lookup logs; logs are kept for a short time and then aggregated.
Our honest wording
We do not call this “end-to-end encryption” or “anonymous lookup”, because our server still processes the number briefly. We are researching stronger private-lookup technology (such as PIR) and will only claim it once independently reviewed.
