How it works
The call often names a well-known courier company and gives a tracking number that sounds real. The parcel supposedly contains drugs, fake passports or credit cards addressed to you.
You are told your Aadhaar was misused and the case has been handed to police or narcotics officers. From here it follows the same script as the “digital arrest” scam: fear, secrecy and a demand for money.
Courier companies do not transfer customers to the police, and no officer settles a case over the phone for money.

What to do
- 1 Hang up and check any shipment only on the courier’s official website
- 2 Never share Aadhaar, bank or card details on such calls
- 3 If you were threatened or paid, call 1930 and report at cybercrime.gov.in
- 4 Report the number on Sanchar Saathi (Chakshu) and in SafeCaller
