Red flags spotted · 0/4

  • The app wants your contacts and photos to approve a loan
  • No clear lender name, interest rate or loan agreement
  • You receive far less than the sanctioned amount
  • Threats, abuse or messages to people in your contact list

How it works

The app asks for access to your contacts, photos and location before approving the loan. You receive much less than the loan amount, and repayment is due within a week with steep penalties.

If you delay, recovery agents call and message your family, colleagues and friends, sometimes with morphed photos. Paying once does not end it — new “loans” are credited without asking.

Legitimate digital lenders are banks or RBI-regulated NBFCs, show the lender’s name before you borrow, and are not allowed to harass you or your contacts.

What to do

  1. 1 Borrow only from banks or RBI-regulated NBFCs whose name you can verify
  2. 2 Revoke the app’s permissions and uninstall it; do not pay extortion demands
  3. 3 Report harassment at cybercrime.gov.in or 1930, and unregulated lenders on RBI’s Sachet portal
  4. 4 Tell your contacts in advance that messages about you are fraudulent
